The fairytale permeates the whole of society across societies and across the world. Evoking myth and storytelling from centuries gone by. In Fairytale 1 the subject is explored in the landscape.
Presenting the world around us in new ways is the job of the creative fine art photographer. As highlighted ours is not to see in creative photography but to interpret. The landscape evoking emotion as a visceral response. Interpreting the scene and bringing to the fore the emotion requires for thought and pre visualisation.
As an observer of the world around us it is up to the reportage artist to present this in new ways, to make people look again at the day to day.
This new folio of Photography staring with Fairytale 1 is created in line with the vision of the photographer as artist and using photography as a medium for creative expression aims to heighten the viewers senses. Lifting the viewer from the normal day to day view of the world and placing them into a new space, a world of emotion, thought and memory, a story.
The goal of fine–art photography is to express an idea, a message, or an emotion. Utilising methods of post production the original image is manipulated to highlight the ethereal quality of the landscape. Softening of the landscape highlights the mist, darkening of the image creates the atmosphere and subtle colour variations create a magical experience for the viewer.
What is reality and what is myth, is the landscape seen here an evocation of the fairytale or is the image itself the myth. As described to achieve the effect the image has been altered to fit in with the photographers view. Therefore the image itself is a story, there is no reality here, the photograph is the myth. Can photography be myth, can we rely on photography to report the real world.
Of course we believe that photography can be real, reportage and editorial photography report on the real world, nothing can or should be changed in these images. However the fine art photographer will sue all of the resources in their creative drive to report another version of the world ruined us.
This is when the photographer as artist and using photography as a medium for creative expression aims to heighten the viewers senses.
